Management changes at Bank of America john simons, who had been expected to assume a key role at Bank of America following its merger with Fleet Boston, has instead decided to retire. He will help form a private-equity fund. Mr. Simons, an eight-year veteran of Fleet, had been expected to be a key official in the merged bank's middle-market unit in New York.
Fred Meagher, who reported to Mr. Simons at Fleet, will be in charge of Bank of America's middle-market group in New York City. Pat McAuliffe, another Fleet executive, will run middle-market operations from Philadelphia to Long Island. Jewelry retailer finds setting for flagship zale corp., the largest jew-elry retailer in the United States, is heading to Herald Square for its fifth Manhattan location....
