Stock Watch: Venerable D&B draws new information inspiration; Data supplier impresses as it revamps, sucks up Hoover's.(Stocks)

Byline: tommy fernandez The dun & bradstreet Corp. is famed for being a financial publisher that lets investors know whether a company is worth its salt. Few realize that despite its advanced age-160 years and counting-D&B is now turning some heads itself. Last week, the company reported second-quarter net income of $45.0 million, or 61 cents per share, up 16% from the same period in 2003.

That came on revenues of $339.2 million, up 10% from the year-earlier period. The results helped push D&B stock to a 52-week high of $57.45 on Tuesday. That price represented a quadrupling in value for the stock in the past four years, and an increase of 15% in the past year alone. Some of the gains were eaten away by Friday's close, as the shares eased back to $54.43....
