Catering firms win unusual job; NYPD begins to mobilize units.(News)(New York City Police Department)

* Four New York catering firms have contracts to provide services at Madison Square Garden during the Republican National Convention. MSG declined to comment on the catering arrangements, but industry sources say this may be the first time that outside companies have been allowed to work an event at the Garden, which runs its own catering business.
The firms that were hired are Restaurant Associates, The Glazier Group, Abigail Kirsch and Creative Edge. * The New York City Police Department will begin implementing its operational plan for the convention this week.
