Last week's election results spell trouble for New York and New Yorkers, right? Well, it all depends how you look at it. In coming weeks, the city's political establishment, composed almost exclusively of Democrats, and left-leaning ones at that, will tell us that the outcome was a disaster for New Yorkers.
Since the city's congressional delegation is all Democratic-save Staten Island Republican Vito Fossella-the city will fare poorly in the new Congress, which is more Republican and more conservative. Mayor Michael Bloomberg's tepid support of President George W. Bush will be well-remembered by the political operatives within the White House and returned in kind.
