Byline: from advertising age, a crain publication Procter & Gamble's $52 billion acquisition of Gillette Co. will create big opportunities and risks for a series of advertising agencies and holding companies. Gillette holding companies WPP Group and Omnicom Group will angle to stay on Procter & Gamble Co.'s clubby roster.
Publicis Groupe will get a shot at more business. The biggest question: whether WPP Group's Mindshare, which handles Gillette's more than $900 million in global media buying, can keep the business. P&G has consolidated most of its media buying globally with Publicis Groupe's Starcom MediaVest Group and its U.S. communications planning with SMG and Aegis Group's Carat. Mindshare already handles Gillette, Unilever and Colgate-Palmolive Co....
