Fed grant boosts tech firm; $1.5 million from Homeland Security will push R&D for antivirus software.

Byline: Amanda Fung a manhattan-based company that was established to fight computer viruses drops its cloak of anonymity today to announce a big federal grant to intensify its research work. CounterStorm has received a $1.5 million Small Business Innovative Research grant from the Department of Homeland Security for its network-security software, which uses behavioral statistical analysis to detect and stop viruses in seconds before they infect and destroy data on computer systems.
CounterStorm says its antivirus software, costing $75,000 to $500,000 to deploy, is more accurate and faster than what major players Symantec and Cisco Systems currently offer. `It's a hot market' "it's not an everyday occurrence for a software security firm in this region...
