Go figure. Last week, Weight Watchers reported quarterly earnings of 56 cents, a gain of 14% over the year-earlier period and one penny better than analysts had forecast. Despite the gains, the company's shares took a beating, falling 10% in the last week. With big mergers and acquisitions booming, times couldn't be finer at Lazard and Greenhill & Co., two firms that specialize in corporate matrimonial advice.
Last week, Lazard posted a 68% jump in quarterly earnings, thanks to fees from advising Pfizer and others. Meanwhile, Robert Greenhill raked in $78 million from selling more shares in his firm.
