Byline: Greg David The field in the governor's race has now narrowed to John Faso and Eliot Spitzer (sorry, Tom Suozzi). There's one big unspoken reason that Mr. Spitzer is the overwhelming favorite: He's the bigger SOB, and New Yorkers like that. Few claim that Mr. Spitzer is nice guy.
Even thick-skinned political consultant Hank Sheinkopf, who once worked on a campaign for Mr. Spitzer, says life is too short to do that again. John Whitehead, the distinguished former head of Goldman Sachs, has publicly complained about the way he's been treated by Mr. Spitzer. Mr. Whitehead says the attorney general tracked him down in Texas after he had the audacity to defend AIG Chief Executive Hank Greenberg against attacks by Mr. Spitzer.
