Byline: from staff reports and bloomberg news reports Wenner Media, headed by President Jann Wenner (above), agreed to pay $300 million to buy back the 50% stake in Us Weekly that it sold to The Walt Disney Co. five years ago. The deal makes Wenner the sole owner of the enormously successful celebrity title.

The once-floundering monthly publication boasted circulation of 1.75 million for the first six months of the year. Disney, which has been shedding its noncore assets, paid $40 million for the stake in February 2001.
