Byline: Amanda Fung As a marketing executive for The Walt Disney Co., Rachelle Zoffer worked on a nifty project in 2000, creating interactive television commercials for the company's parks and resorts unit. The experimental spots never went beyond the testing stage, but Ms. Zoffer's experience wasn't wasted.

She recently joined Verizon Communications Inc. as its first director of interactive TV. Ms. Zoffer believes that the moment has finally arrived for the medium, which allows viewers to respond to programming and ads through their remote controls. She'll use her knowledge of the business to convince TV content providers such as shopping network HSN that Verizon can deliver interactive TV better and faster than cable and satellite providers....
