At Deadline.(Late News)(briefs)(City Council to vote for bill on television service in New York)

The City Council will vote by the end of the month on a bill that would allow Verizon Communications and other companies to offer television service in New York, says City Councilman Tony Avella, chair of the zoning and franchises subcommittee. The council will insist that all franchisees make equal financial contributions to public access channels, employ union workers and build cable networks expeditiously throughout the city, he says.
