Americans love a public flogging, and these celebrities have given them their fill. But lately, Americans have developed a distinct taste for redemption. When Ms. Stewart got into legal trouble for lying about her sale of ImClone stock, advertisers abandoned her and CBS dropped her television show.
Even her own company reduced the size of her name on Martha Stewart Living magazine. But her fortunes have improved markedly since she was released from jail.
