Crain's New York Business, June, 2007
Lawmakers adjourned last week without addressing a bill that would establish a statewide cable television franchise. The measure would have accelerated plans by Verizon Communications Inc. to offer cable TV in New York City--a process that has been in seeming standstill since last October, when the City Council authorized the Bloomberg administration to move forward with a request for proposals by companies that want to compete for a city franchise.
City officials say they are working on it. Mayor Michael Bloomberg will discuss education and other issues at a Crain's breakfast forum at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Sheraton New York. The mayor will make remarks and be questioned by Crain's editor Greg David and WNYC's Brian Lehrer. Go to www.NewYorkBusiness.com...
