SPARTECH BUYS CANADIAN MOLDER ACCURA.

Spartech Corp. has expanded its Canadian business by acquiring Accura Molding Co. Ltd., a custom injection molder in Brampton, Ontario. Spartech paid US$9.6 million for Accura, Spartech announced Oct. 1. Accura fits Spartech's strategy to expand in high-value-added molding and profile extrusion businesses, said Normand Tanguay, executive vice president of Spartech Canada of Montreal.

Accura had sales of US$11.1 million for the year ended June 30. Tanguay said it runs more than 30 injection presses of 85-1,000 tons. Its major account is Brita Canada Ltd., a subsidiary of Clorox Co., for which it molds components for Brita-brand water purification systems.
