GE nets distributor Commercial.(Brief Article)

For the second time in two months, GE Plastics has acquired a major distributor of plastic products. This time, GE's target is Commercial Plastics & Supply Corp., a Boca Raton, Fla.-based distributor of sheet, rod, film and tubing. Commercial employs 1,300 at 92 locations, most in the United States but including Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe and the Caribbean.

"This is another forward-integration opportunity for us," said GE Plastics spokesman Bob Hess. "We're trying to grow the market." The most recent move comes after the May 8 announcement that GE Plastics would acquire Cadillac Plastics, a unit of M.A. Hanna Co. that posted $378 million in plastics sheet, rod, tubing and film sales last year. Cadillac employs 1,100 at 111 locations....
