Multibase starting 14th compounding line.(Brief Article)

COPLEY, OHIO -- Solid growth in its styrenic block copolymer business is leading Multibase Inc. to add a 14th compounding line at its Copley site by the end of the year. The new twin-screw line will make styrenic block copolymers based on Shell Chemical Co.'s Kraton thermoplastic elastomer resins, which Multibase is licensed to compound.

Multibase currently produces about 45 million pounds of material annually on nine twin-screw lines and four single-screw lines. Kraton-based products, which Multibase sells under the Multi-Flex brand name, account for about 80 percent of the firm's output. Multibase's parent firm -- Multibase SA of Saint-Laurent-du-Pont, France -- is looking to add a plant in Brazil in the near future. That plant will be the company's...
