Heywood aims to sell holdings.(Brief Article)

Heywood Williams Group plc has decided to sell its U.S. operations, including Bristolpipe Corp., as well as some as-yet-unidentified peripheral businesses in Europe. The plan, in which Heywood hopes to wash its hands of those businesses within 18 months, was announced Aug. 31. Heywood's primary business is the manufacture of PVC windows and doors in the United Kingdom, while its U.S.
operations manufacture plastic pipe for water and sewer applications as well as fittings for the mobile home and recreational vehicle industry. The U.S. operations, which include pipe extruder Bristolpipe of Elkhart, Ind., have accounted for nearly half the parent company's sales. But Heywood's interests are too broad, said Hamish Bryce, acting chief executive officer....
