Nexpak seeking to break from DVD pack.(Brief Article)

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIF. -- Media packaging giant Nexpak is developing specialty products outside its core niche. Nexpak is "looking at other specialty packaging opportunities that make sense to take advantage of our capabilities and infrastructure," Mike Sims, Nexpak president and chief executive officer, said in an interview at DVD Entertainment 2000, held Aug.

23-24 in Universal City. Nexpak is exploring packages "on the fringes or maybe a little outside media [products]," he said, withholding specifics. Sims projected that Nexpak's 2000 sales will total about $300 million with European operations accounting for 15-20 percent.
