Rhodia plans nylon boost in Europe.

LYON, FRANCE -- Rhodia Engineering Plastics announced it is raising its European nylon resin capacity by 20 percent. The Lyon-based subsidiary of Rhodia SA will invest 23 million euros ($20 million) to boost capacity for nylon 6 and nylon 6/6 polymerization and compounding at its three sites: St.
Fons, France; Ceriano Laghetto, Italy, and Gorzow, Poland. The project, to be completed by the end of the year, will increase capacity to 375 million pounds annually. The French plant will concentrate on a continuous production process for nylon 6/6, while the Italian plant will make nylon 6/6 and copolymers in a batch process. The Polish facility will make nylon 6 resin, according to a company spokesman. The expansion follows earlier investments in South Korea...
