Autoliv, Mando form venture.(Brief Article)

Swedish auto supplier Autoliv Inc. is launching a joint venture in South Korea to make seat belts, air bags and other safety systems worth an estimated $200 million in annual sales. The new Autoliv Mando Corp. will begin production with an estimated $30 million worth of air bags and eventually expand to take in all of the Stockholm-based company's offerings.

Autoliv will own 65 percent of the company with partner Mando Corp. holding the rest. Mando now makes more than 130,000 air-bag modules under an Autoliv license at Mando's base in Munmak, South Korea. Autoliv is seeking a new location for Autoliv Mando closer to Seoul, said company spokesman Patrick Jarboe in a Nov. 28 telephone interview from the company's North American office in Auburn Hills, Mich....
