Orange Plastics buys bag maker Joseph Edward.(Brief Article)

California bag maker Orange Plastics has extended its reach eastward with the acquisition of Joseph Edward Co., a bag manufacturer in Crittenden, Ky. ``The geographic advantage [in the deal] is huge,'' said Michael Becker, vice president of finance and administration for Compton-based Orange.
``California can be difficult to operate in for several aspects, including the cost of electricity.'' ``We wanted other areas to operate in,'' Becker added. ``We're now well-positioned for the Midwest, East Coast and South.'' Joseph Edward opened its 50,000-square-foot Crittenden plant in 1997 when it moved from Cincinnati, where the company was founded in 1994. The firm makes polyethylene-based bags for grocery and retail. Orange makes those same products, as well...
