The following items were gathered by reporter Rhoda Miel at the SPE Thermoforming Conference, held Sept. 15-17 in Nashville, Tenn. Thomas purchases Germany's Rietschle Werner Rietschle GmbH Co. has a new owner, but the vacuum pumps and conveying equipment it sells to thermoforming machinery makers will continue to carry the same name.
Thomas Industries Inc. of Louisville, Ky., completed a buyout of Rietschle of Schopfheim, Germany, on Aug. 29 for $83 million and 1.8 million shares of Thomas stock. Rietschle Managing Director Dieter Rietschle also will join the Thomas Industries board, with the Rietschle family holding a 10 percent interest in Thomas. Durethan-brand sheet reaching N.
