Milacron, Barr making injection feed screws.(News)(Brief Article)

Milacron Inc. has partnered with Barr Inc. of Virginia Beach, Va., to manufacture and sell Barr's injection feed screws in the United States. Officials announced the partnership during Plastics Encounter Southeast, held Oct. 18-20 in Charlotte. Screws patented by Barr using its Energy Transfer and Variable Barrier Energy Transfer designs now are available on new Milacron machines or as aftermarket products from Barr or ServTek Milacron Inc.
Cincinnati-based Milacron worked jointly with Robert Barr using the VBET screw to reduce cycle times by 11/2 seconds for a molder of 5-gallon pails, officials said, by lowering melt temperatures and increasing recovery rates.
