Study expects wireless to catch on fast in plants.(News)(Brief article)

ARC Advisory Group of Dedham has issued reports on wireless capability in factories and continuous-improvement systems. ARC said wireless technology will sweep through factory floors at a compounded annual growth rate of 26 percent during the next five years. The market will grow from $325.7 million in 2005 to more than $1 billion in 2010, the study said.

Manufacturing executives see wireless communication as less expensive, safer, more reliable and more transparent that current technology, said senior analyst Harry Forbes, who wrote "Wireless Technology in Process Manufacturing.''
