A chromium-molybdenum-boron case hardening steel with superior cold forgeability has been developed for automotive differential gears by Daido Steel Co. Ltd. and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Japan. The steel was described in "Development of High Impact Strength Case Hardening Steel," a paper presented at the 2003 SAE World Congress in Detroit in March.
