Die casting project extends life of dies for aluminum.(FORMING/PROCESSING)

An aluminum die casting program called Die Casting Die Life Extension has been completed by the DOE Low Emissions Partnership of the United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR). As a result of the program, thermal-stress coupled modeling of the die steel was completed, enabling engineers to predict thermal fatigue failure in die cast surfaces.
