For more than 100 years, steel has been basic to the automotive industry. Recently, the steel industry developed an optimized automotive steel structure that is 24% lighter, 34% stronger, and $154 less expensive than traditional auto body structures on the road today. And top executives in the auto industry and the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV) cite steel as the main material for the Supercar of the future.
