A joint development agreement for titanium matrix composite aircraft landing gear has been signed by Atlantic Research Corp., Gainesville, Va., and Goodrich Corp., City, State. The composite consists of titanium reinforced by silicon carbide filaments, a material that matches the strength and toughness of steel at half the weight.
