A process to enhance stainless steel P / M parts properties through surface densification has reportedly been developed by Maxtech Powder Metal (previously Precitech Powder Metals), division of Maxtech Manufacturing Inc., Quebec City, Canada. The process consists of introducing a small amount of h-BN to the base metal powder to activate sintering and seal surface porosity.
