Blackout film eliminates secondary painting for cars.

Blackout film that is said to eliminate emissions and certain costs associated with secondary painting operations has been developed by 3M Automotive Innovation Center, Livonia, Mich. Designated Scotchcal, the films are about 0.16mm (6.5 mils) thick and consist of a release liner, pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive, and vinyl film.
