An arc-welding technique for repair of a directionally solidified (DS) nickel-base superalloy part such as a turbine blade or vane has reportedly been developed at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio. The technique may be applied to an as-cast component or an inservice part that has been damaged.
