Titanium Metals Corp. (Timet), Denver, Colo., and Nippon Steel Corp. (NSC), Tokyo, Japan, have agreed in principle to jointly market Timet's LCB (low-cost beta) alloy to Japanese automobile and spring manufacturers. Titanium springs enable weight reductions of up to 70% over steel springs, as well as improved corrosion resistance.
