Cold-pilger manufacturing capacity for large-diameter tubing has been installed at the Timken Co. Gambrinus Steel Plant in Canton, Ohio. The new capability extends the company's cold-pilgered size range to 10.5 inches (266 mm) in diameter. Pilgering is a process in which both wall thickness and diameter are reduced by means of a mandrel and a pair of rolls.
