The ceramic resealable bottle closures used in some premium brews, such as Grolsch, a European brand of Grolsch Bierbrouwerij Nederland, are familiar to many beer drinkers. However, this is an expensive bottle design and relies on the bottles being returned. The nonrecyclable ceramic stopper is brittle and can be damaged during the return process, says PolyOne Corp., Cleveland.
