A newly patented joining technology that eliminates the double seam design on aluminum cans would save 0.9 gram per container, reports the Aluminum Association, Washington, D.C. The Seam Lase process, which is being introduced by Raptor Consulting, West Chester, Pa., replaces the double seam with a hermetic seal and seam for a round, square, or rectangular aluminum or steel container.
