A bone-like material that could be suitable for the repair of bone fractures and the treatment of bone cancer has reportedly been designed by scientists at Northwestern University, Evanston, III. The molecules are said to self-assemble into a three-dimensional structure that mimics the key features of human bone at the nanoscale level, including the collagen nanofibers that promote mineralization and mineral nanocrystals.
