Two of the largest aircraft engine manufacturers in the United States, Pratt & Whitney and GE Aircraft Engines, are supporting a five-year, industry-wide research effort to improve the temperature capabilities of nickel-base alloys. The most widely applied super-alloy in the aerospace industry is NO7718, which contains 52% nickel.
