Osmium metal bulk modulus higher than that of diamond. (Materials Science/R&D).

A sample of osmium metal powder has been compressed under high pressure and found to have hardness higher than that of diamond, reports a research team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, Calif. The team compressed a small sample of the metal under extremely high pressure and found that its volume was reduced even less than that of diamond, which has been considered the hardest material up to now.
