Denso Corp., Kariya, Japan, is a major manufacturer of automotive air conditioning (A/C) systems. It was a leader in the global conversion from ozone-depleting R-12 refrigerant to ozone-safe R-134a in the early 1990s. Today's A/C and heating systems work fine in conventionally powered (internal combustion engine) vehicles, which draw cabin heat from engine coolant.
