The conference program of oral and poster presentations addressed several topical materials-related issues, most themes being led off by keynote speakers. Subject areas included electronic and photonic materials, light metals, integrity and durability, plastic packaging materials, sustainable development, superconductivity, materials in transport, sports, and leisure, as well as multiple sessions and posters on nanotechnology.

This report will concentrate on nanotechnology and light alloys segments of the program. Fosters and abstracts apart, no printed versions of the presentations and no proceedings will be published, leaving authors free to publish their papers in journals of their own choice.
