Enclosures, carrier plates, and other parts for microelectronic products can be machined of Al-Si and Si-Al alloys and delivered in as little as two weeks, reports Osprey Metals Ltd., La Jolla, Calif. Parts can also be supplied with an electroplated surface. Five controlled-expansion alloys are available, including CE7, with expansion of 7 ppml/[degrees]C, and CE9, with expansion of 9 ppm/[degrees]C.
