Sintering process studied via acoustic transducers. (Testing/Analysis).
Advanced Materials & Processes, September, 2002
The sintering process by which powder metals are consolidated has been investigated via no-contact electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMAT) by researchers at the DOE Ames Laboratory, Ames, Iowa. The EMAT technology enables in situ monitoring of acoustic amplitude and velocity as sintering proceeds.
