Direct diode laser systems that can case harden a material with negligible distortion by laser deformation hardening are available from Nuvonyx Inc., Bridgeton, Mo. The systems provide linear polarization at a center wavelength of 805 nm and minimum pulse width of one millisecond. The ISL-2000L laser systems combine state of the art micro-optics with laser diodes to produce a high-efficiency reliable heat source for a variety of applications.
