A new method of coating bone implants that encourages bone in-growth and bonding while reducing the possibility of loosening has reportedly been devised by researchers at Oxford University, Department of Materials, Oxford, England. Inorganic materials such as metals do not bond to the surrounding tissue, and adhesives eventually degrade, allowing the implant to loosen.
