Heat-treatable aluminum-silicon alloys with added bismuth have reportedly been developed for continuous self-lubricity, low friction, and high seizure loads by Advanced Casting Technologies (ACT) Inc., Troy, Mich. Aluminum alloys DHT-3 and DHT-4 were described in a paper presented by ACT president Muftau Alabi at the 2002 ASM Materials Solutions Conference in Columbus in October.
