Flowforming evaluated as alternative to deep drawing. (Forming/Processing).

Flowforming steel cartridge cases that have traditionally been made by deep drawing is under development at the National Center for Excellence in Metalworking Technology, Johnstown, Pa, teamed with Dynamic Machine Works, Billerica, Mass.; Owego Heat Treat, Apalachin, N.Y.; and MCS Associates, Greensburg, Pa. The cartridge case is a materials and process challenge because it requires a unique combination of strength properties in different areas.
