Injection-molded Amodel polyphthalamide (PPA) with a heat-deflection temperature of 270[degrees]C (520[degrees]F) from Solvay Advanced Polymers, Alpharetta, Ga., has reportedly replaced aluminum in the throttle body of a valve in a Delphi marine outboard engine. Amodel A1565 is reinforced with mineral and glass fibers, and has a flexural modulus of 18 GPa (2600 ksi).
