The application of laser beams to heat and bend sheet metal is to be developed in a joint venture led by General Electric Global Research, Niskayuna, N.Y.; and the application of laser beams to sinter titanium powders into three-dimensional shapes is to be developed by Optomec, Albuquerque, N.M., in two Advanced Technology Projects announced by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, Md.
