Subsequent to my retirement from a satisfying arid varied career as a consulting metallurgist in a variety of industries both domestic and international, when asked what my capacity was, I found the term "failure analyst" to be both negative in scope and misunderstood in application.

Several people inquired if I was engaged in a psychological field for depressed patients! I have since realized that my chosen discipline is best described as a "forensic metallurgist." This title often resulted in a greater understanding of what activity I was actually engaged in. ...
