Polycarbonate resin combined with silicone raises strength. (Polymers/Ceramics).

A new transparent polymer in which silicone is added to the molecular structure of polycarbonate has been announced by GE Plastics, Pittsfield, Mass. Called Lexan EXL, the resin exhibits improved toughness over polycarbonate, while retaining its clarity. Other benefits include increased impact resistance, improved processability, and better ultraviolet weatherability.
